Klang is a royal city and the historic capital of Selangor. It is found in the Klang District. It was the civil capital of Selangor before the rise of Kuala Lumpur and the present capital, Shah Alam. Port Klang, located in the Klang District, is the world's 12th busiest transshipment port and 12th busiest container port. Klang is split into two halves by the Klang River: North Klang and South Klang. North Klang is separated into three sub-districts: Kapar (to the north of North Klang), Rantau Panjang (to the west of North Klang), and Meru (to the east of North Klang). Port Klang, Malaysia's busiest port, was originally known as Port Swettenham until 1972, when it was renamed Port Klang. Klang South is the location of Port Klang.
